Part of our co-operative commitment is to address certain social and environmental issues, which we’ve been doing since total coverage started, over nineteen years ago.
We’ve decided to demonstrate the importance of these issues by signing up to the Carbon Challenge, a Carbon Trust and Co-operativesUK initiative, and pledging to reduce our carbon emissions by at least 20% by 2010.
We have recently completed an audit and are now looking at ways to lower our energy use and lessen our carbon footprint. We have already started to take some steps, including recycling our waste, reducing our energy use and making our members aware of the importance of this project.
