Over two million smokers are expected to stub out their final cigarette on 14 March, making it the biggest No Smoking Day in the campaign’s 24 year history! Millions more will take the opportunity to find out about the help available for when they are ready to stop smoking.
The theme for this year’s campaign is ‘Make a Fresh Start’. This will be a perfect opportunity to make your fresh start with millions of other smokers and choose a healthier lifestyle.
With the smokefree legislation coming into force on July 1 many smokers will use No Smoking Day as their opportunity to get a head start and stop smoking. Seven out of ten smokers say they want to give up smoking; by using our world class stop smoking services to help, they are four times more likely to be successful in quitting.
Ben Youdan, Chief Executive of No Smoking Day, the charity behind the annual health awareness campaign, says: “Good luck to all smokers who are serious about making a fresh start this No Smoking Day. Stopping smoking is the ultimate lifestyle overhaul. You’ll feel fitter, healthier and have more energy and money! A 20 a day smoker could save up to £1,800. Using help support of your local NHS Stop Smoking Service you can make it four times more likely that you will stay smoke free!â€
