Anita Roddick

All at total coverage were very sad to hear the news that Dame Anita Roddick died recently. She was an inspiration to many, and one of the first to promote the idea that companies could have an ethical and environmental conscience, be successful and work for the greater good.
The Body Shop used its position of influence in the high street to talk about domestic violence, human rights, and fair trade. Working with Greenpeace, it backed many environmental campaigns, from saving whales to recycling rubbish. Again and again, she insisted that leading an ethical company made good business sense.

“The end result of kindness is that it draws people to you.”

Anita Roddick – 23 October 1942 – 10 September 2007
