Almost half of the clothes in Britain’s wardrobes go unworn, a new survey from Oxfam and Marks & Spencer has shown.
A YouGov report, commissioned to mark the first day of the M&S and Oxfam Clothes Exchange, shows that 46 per cent of people’s clothes - an estimated 2.4billion items - have sat gathering dust on shelves and hangers and were not worn once in the last year.
The Marks & Spencer and Oxfam Clothes Exchange is designed to encourage people to recycle their unwanted clothes by donating them to Oxfam.
When you take a bag of donated clothes containing at least one item of M&S clothing to any of Oxfam’s 750 high street shops in the UK and 40 shops in Ireland, you’ll get a voucher for £5 off your next purchase of £35 or more of clothing, homeware or beauty products in M&S. For more information visit the Marks & Spencer website. Then start sorting out your wardrobe & head to Oxfam.
