Everyone has heard of The Co-operative but not everybody knows what The Co-operative is all about so in July I was invited to be guest speaker at What’s in a name? – The Co-operative Explained an event organised by the Co-operative Group South West Region Membership Team. The aim of the event, held in Bournemouth, was to give Co-operative Group members more information about the wider co-operative movement, the work of The Co-operative and co-operation. My presentation included a brief history of Total Coverage, how we use the co-operative values and principles day to day and the benefits and challenges that we face working in a workers’ co-operative. The whole event went really well and received great feedback from all the members.
